Nearby Activities
The Lower Stillwater (and the nearby Yellowstone) River offer many exciting activities for the adventuresome visitor. These include several nearby Montana State fishing access sites for those who want to try on their own, and numerous professional fishing guides are available to take you to the current “Hot Spots” and inform you how to “match the hatch”.
Several whitewater rafting outfitters ply their trade in the immediate area, both on the Stillwater and Yellowstone, and they all employ experienced, professional guides who offer paddle rafts, oar rafts, and personal kayaks. Very few vacation activities are as exciting as shooting down a river, feeling the speed of the descent and the water in your face. This has been one of my favorite activities since the first time I floated the Yellowstone, back in 1971. Give it a try while you’re in Stillwater County!
Another nearby outdoor activity is horseback riding, offered by Paintbrush Adventures, just a few miles up the Stillwater River. They also offer fishing trips in conjunction with their equestrian services.
Although Yellowstone National Park is approximately 3 hours away, it is one of the most beautiful drives you will ever encounter.
Finally, up in Fishtail you can rent ATV’s from Benbow ATV Rentals, to round out your outdoor adventures.
